Lockout laws and women

John Harrison suggests in the Brisbane Times (4.2.16) that 'watching Queensland's diminutive Attorney General Yvette D'Arth, lips pursed, pronunciation precise, pushing back on opposition to the lockout laws is a reminder that since the late 19th century women have been at forefront of the fight against the malign influence of alcohol in this state'. ...

'So when the LNP backs the liquor interests in the hope of a legislative defeat on the floor of the parliament for the Palaszczuk government, where are the voices of the LNP women, whose own upbringing has been in the tradition of the Women's Christian Temperance Union? Fiona Simpson, Jann Stuckey, it's your time to shout.'
