Professor Tom Cochrane is Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Law at the Queensland University of Technology. He was formerly Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Technology, Information and Learning Support) at QUT until retiring from that position at the end of 2013. In his current role, Professor Cochrane's external duties include Director, Australian Digital Alliance (a law reform advocacy body), and he has been a co-leader of the Creative Commons project for which QUT was the institutional leader for Australia. This project, together with other open access initiatives, signals a long-standing commitment to access to knowledge, and to research output worldwide. Tom has served on Boards and Committees of a number of cultural institutions, and government, both national and state. His academic research focused on Queensland in the time of Premiers Ryan and Theodore.
